Early Days
Every brand has an origin, but few are rooted quite as literally as ours. Stirling was founded in 2018 in Santa Cruz, California, on a stretch of farmland tucked deep within the lush, fog-draped Santa Cruz Mountains — a landscape of towering redwoods, winding coastal roads, and rich, sun-warmed soil, where Pacific mist drifts up through the ridgelines each morning before burning away into clear mountain light. It was in that quiet, verdant corner of the California coast that our founder first began experimenting with the ingredients that would come to define the company.
The name Stirling itself was almost inevitable. It first belonged to the narrow, unpaved road that led to the original farm — a name etched onto old maps long before anyone imagined a company would rise from that hillside. But rearrange its letters, and Stirling becomes Sterling: a word carrying centuries of meaning, long synonymous with high purity and uncompromising quality. Between the road that led us home and a word that has always stood for excellence, the name chose itself.
From that hillside farm, our goal was clear from the start: redefining people’s health. We looked at an industry that too often prioritized volume over integrity and set out to build something better, one product at a time.

We launched during the height of the Opioid Crisis, at a time when the numbers told an uncomfortable story: Americans make up just 5% of the world’s population, yet account for over 25% of all prescriptions filled. We saw that imbalance and made a deliberate choice to build natural alternatives that could genuinely help people move away from opioid dependence and reclaim their lives. Every formula was developed carefully, without shortcuts, because people navigating that fight deserve products that actually work.
Redefining Extraction
One of the most significant developments in Stirling’s history was not a marketing decision — it was a technical one. We asked why an industry built on natural ingredients still relied so heavily on harsh chemical solvents to extract those ingredients from the plant in the first place.
Most extraction methods use butane, CO₂ under high pressure, or ethanol to strip compounds from plant matter. These methods are effective, but the result is not always as pure as the label suggests. We developed an alternative: our proprietary Solventless Extraction technology, which uses no chemical solvents at all — only ice, water, and mechanical precision.

Growth & Challenges
Just as Stirling was gaining momentum, we faced an unexpected challenge. In late 2019, our founder and CEO, Joe Kryszak, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. What followed was eight months of chemotherapy.
Rather than step back, Joe continued working throughout the treatment, developing products intended to help ease the side effects of chemotherapy. Many of those formulations, developed out of his own experience, remain among our best-selling products today. The good news is he is now in full remission.
In 2023, Stirling Professional entered its next chapter to focus solely on partnering directly with Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, and Naturopathic Providers. These professionals work directly with patients every day and share our commitment to natural, holistic solutions that address the underlying cause, not just the symptom.
